Dr. Michele Turner-Wood is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, but now resides in Clayton, New Jersey. She received her dental degree at Howard University in Washington, DC. While matriculating at Howard, she along with fifteen other women, founded a professional dental medical sorority- Delta Phi Sigma Sorority, which is now Incorporated. The founders felt the need to create an atmosphere where women could come together collectively to support and empower one another , and provide service for the community. To date, the sorority continues to grow and flourish, and uphold the Motto “United in Excellence, Bound by Service.” After graduation, Dr. Turner-Wood received a Certificate of Completion for a General Practice Residency program at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC.
Dr. Turner-Wood was commissioned as an active duty (Lieutenant) Public Health Service Officer (PHS) after her dental residency, and her first assignment was with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Fairton, NJ. While there, she received a Unit Commendation Award and a Hazardous Duty Service Ribbon from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Turner-Wood has devoted countless hours of patient care both in the community health setting and private practice. She is fully devoted to the Southern New Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania community, and has been very active in a wide variety of community projects. Some events have included:
