Dr. Michele Turner-Wood is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, but now resides in Clayton, New Jersey. She received her dental degree at Howard University in Washington, DC. After graduation, she received a Certificate of Completion for a general practice residency program at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC.

Dr. Turner-Wood was commissioned as an active duty (Lieutenant) Public Health Service officer (PHS) after her dental residency and her first assignment was with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Fairton, New Jersey. While there, she received a Unit Commendation Award and a Hazardous Duty Service Ribbon from the Department of Health and Human Services. She ended her tour of duty as an active officer and is now an inactive reservist with the PHS.

Dr. Turner-Wood has devoted countless hours of patient care both in the community health setting and private practice. She held a supervisory position at the Burlington County Dental Center where she was instrumental in the implementation of programs and ideas to help better serve the citizens of Burlington County.

Dr. Turner-Wood is fully devoted to the southern New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania community and has been very active in a wide variety of community projects. Some recent events have included:

- Volunteer for the “Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures” van for dental screenings and education in Philadelphia

- Dental educator for elementary schools and Head Start programs in Glassboro, New Jersey

- Seminars on preventative and post-injury oral care for athletes in the athletic department at Rowan University

- Keynote speaker for a scholarship awards ceremony for the ACT-SO Program for high school students across the Tri-County area

Dr. Turner-Wood has also received multiple awards in recognition for her years of community service.

- “Pioneer Award” for 10 years of participation in the “Give Kids A Smile Program” (New Jersey Dental Association, 2012)

- “Purple Heart Award” for honorable business owners (National Society of American Business Owners, 2009)

- “Candace Women of Achievement Award” for outstanding community service (National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Southern New Jersey Chapter, 2007)
